Two New Special Releases for Hop City

We are releasing two limited-edition beers at Leeds' Hop City Festival this weekend. These two beers, LOPA and JUPA, are the first launches of a special release project, of which there will many more to come over the next 12 months.

In the near future, we will be releasing our Beer Calendar. This will plot our beer release trajectory for the next 12 months, and will include the launch of a special, one-off release program as an opportunity for our brewers to experiment with styles, methods and ingredients. The brief for two new, hop-centric beers to pour at Hop City Festival this weekend was the perfect occasion to get things rolling.

LOPA | 3.7%

The first new beer is a low-ABV pale ale fermented with Windsor yeast, an English strain which typically produces beers which have a light, fresh estery character. Coming in at a very drinkable 3.7%, it’s dry-hopped with Falconer’s Flight, an American hop blend known for its distinctly tropical, floral and grapefruit characteristics. For short, we’re calling this one LOPA.

JUPA | 5.5%

Our second limited release is a 5.5% juicy, fruity IPA. We’re calling this one JUPA. Hopped with Simcoe in the boil and dry-hopped with Citra and Mosaic, this beer has bold, juicy citrus flavours and a tropical fruit character; think cantaloupe melon or papaya. With a low bitterness and refreshing body, this beer feels like a good way to kick off spring.

Find us at Hop City!

Both beers will be pouring at Hop City just two days since they were packaged into keg – they will both be incredibly fresh! You can find our bar in the Northern Monk Brewery, alongside Beavertown, Bissel Brothers, Deya, Equilibrium, Fuerst Wiacek and Siren Craft Brew.

Come and find us on the Five Points bar for a taste and a chat.
