FAQs: The Five Points Taproom 2021
1. The Essentials
Where are you?
We are based at The Five Points Brewing Company & Taproom, at 61 Mare Street, Hackney, London E8 4RG. Our entrance to our outdoor Taproom for Spring & Summer 2021 is on the side entrance located on Bush Road, just a few seconds from our front door, to the right hand side.
See here for Google Maps.
And what are your opening hours?
Our opening hours are:
Bank Hol Mondays 12noon-9pm
Please note that last entry is at 9pm (8pm on BH Mondays), and that last orders are at 9.30pm (8.30pm Mondays).
How do I book?
Please make all bookings online using our booking form at https://fivepointsbrewing.co.uk/pubs/mare-street-taproom/
How much are tickets?
Tickets are £5 per person and include a complimentary first drink on arrival. Tickets must be purchased for all members of a party, including children.
What size bookings can I make?
We are currently taking all bookings in line with Government regulations which state that table sizes must be limited to either 6 people, or 2 households. Our maximum table size is currently 8 people.
The Government has indicated that they may relax restrictions on booking sizes after 17th May, however this has not yet been confirmed and so we are not currently able to accept bookings for groups larger than this, even after 17th May.
2. While I’m There
Can I bring children?
You are welcome to bring children, we ask that all children leave site by sunset (currently around 8pm). Please note that under Government rules, children of ALL ages count towards the ‘Rule of 6’.
Please include all children that require their own seat (i.e. other than “babes in arms”) in your booking numbers, and purchase a ticket for them. The complimentary drink offer can be redeemed for either a soft drink, or for an alcoholic drink for one of the adults if you wish.
We do not have any high chairs at present, however parents are very welcome to bring travel chairs. We do have a unisex baby change WC.
We also ask parents to bear in mind the strict Government guidelines about Covid-safety at present, and all guests including children should remain seated unless using the WC facilities.
How do I order food and drinks whilst at the Taproom?
For the time being, Government rules stipulate that all orderding and consumption of food and drinks has to be done whilst seated. We are therefore using an App called “Five Points On Tap” which you can download in advance here, or alternatively there will be QR codes on site to either download the app or use a website version on your table.
Is there accessible level access and accessible WC facilities?
Yes there is level access to the external taproom from the street, and to the external seating areas, and to our indoor WC facilities, which include a specific accessible toilet.
What is the smoking policy?
Please note that the wooden decking area, the covered wooden “pods”, and the undercover arch area are all non-smoking. Smoking is permitted at the open-air tables on the tarmac/concrete areas, and there is also a dedicated standing smoking area in the open-air.
Is it open air, or under-cover?
About half the area is under cover – a covered Pergola area on the decking, three beach-hut style ‘pods’ and a large railway arch. The open-air tables have parasols for use in the event of rain.
Because of the large volume of covered area, and the parasols, we do not envisage having to cancel any of the Taproom events this year. In the event of very poor weather e.g. torrential rain, we will happily consider refunds or a future date switch on a case by case basis.
We can’t guarantee that you’ll be sitting in the sun, but we will always do our best to resit you if its possible.
Is there food?
Yes – we have food served by Hackney’s very own ACE Pizza, who serve the food at our existing public house The Pembury Tavern. Find out more about ACE Pizza here. Food is served from opening, with last orders for food available until one hour before closing.
We ask that only food bought from our own vendors is consumed on site.
Do you have a full range of drinks, and non-beer options?
Yes – alongside our full range of Five Points beers, we sell a choice of wine, prosecco, cider, a short spirits menu and a full range of soft and free from-alcohol drinks.
What Covid-safe policies do you have in place?
We will always ensure that we operate our venue in accordance with Government regulations that are in place at the time. In particular;
– Bookings are currently open-air only and are subject to the ‘Rule of 6’ or 2 household maximum policy
– There will be a minimum of 1 metre between tables
– There will be hand sanitiser available upon entry and around the venue
– All tables will be thoroughly sanitised between bookings, and all touch points in the venue, for example door handles, will be regularly sanitised by our staff
– Upon arrival, a staff-member will escort you to your table, and explain the layout and ordering policies
– All ordering must be done from your seat and we are using an App and QR code system
– Customers are requested to remain seated at all times unless using the WCs or smoking area, and must wear a mask when using the WC facilities inside
– All staff are required to wear a face-mask at all times
We have conducted a Covid-19 risk assessment, and are constantly monitoring our policies and procedures. As and when Government guidelines change, we will ensure that we are up to date.
4. The New Taproom & The Future
What’s this about a brand new indoor Taproom this summer?
We are currently open outdoors only as a ”Pop-up”, and our outdoor space will continue to evolve over this summer as we add additional seating, lighting, signage and permanent ACE Pizza and bar units.
Our next phase will see us complete our new internal mezzanine and viewing gallery over the brewery, as indoor Covid-19 restrictions are eased. And in Phase 3, we will build and launch a new indoor taproom and bar at the front of the building, in time for opening this autumn!
We will be offering people the opportunity to invest in the new Taproom, and to own a slice of The Five Points Brewing Company, in May. This will include the right to perks and discounts in the Taproom (and Pembury Tavern). Please sign up to our mailing list to be kept up to date with news.
See our blog post here for more news about these plans!
5. Investor Discounts
I am an existing Five Points investor, can I redeem my shareholder discount or free birthday pint?
Yes, absolutely! You may redeem your shareholder discount in the same way that you can at The Pembury Tavern or in our webstore. However, because we currently use an App for at-table service, you will need to enter a specific code for your investor discount tier. This was sent to you at your registered email address, and you can get it again by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
As always, please bring a form of photo ID showing your date of birth within one week of attending, along with your shareholder card, to redeem your free birthday pint!
6. The Pembury Tavern
What about The Pembury Tavern?
We also own and operate Hackney’s legendary Pembury Tavern. The Pembury is currently open Wednesday-Sunday for Takeaway and Deliveroo beer and pizza sales. We hope to re-open The Pembury Tavern from 17th May, subject to the Government roadmap dates.
7. Need More Help?
I have a question which has not been answered here, what do I do?
If you have any specific enquiries that have not been addressed here, please contact our Taproom staff on email@example.com. Please note that this is not staffed on a full-time basis and there may be a lag of up to 48 hours for responses, particularly over weekends.
Thank you for your interest and we look forward to seeing you!
