We’re looking for an experienced pizza chef to join us at The Pembury Tavern in Hackney.

Salary: £36,000-£38,000 + additional bonus up to £2,500 p.a.
Hours: 45 hours per week
Location: The Pembury Tavern, 90 Amhurst Road, London E8 1JH
Right to work: You will need to hold the necessary rights/ visa to work in the UK.

Since their launch in 2018, Ace Pizza at The Pembury Tavern has become known as some of the best pizza in London, with a loyal local following and topping Time Out’s Best Pizza in London feature in 2023. At the forefront of a hybrid Neo-Neapolitan style or 'London style’, ACE are known for their unique light and crispy biga dough, as well as their creativity and quality when it comes to outstanding toppings. Most recently they have launched their new pizza sandwiches to much acclaim.

Following ACE pizzas’s most successful year to date at The Pembury Tavern, we have an exciting new opportunity for a Head Pizza Chef. This is your opportunity to lead an award winning pizza team and help them to grow further, with more exciting events, more sites and a lot more pizza in the pipeline.


What We’re Looking For:

An experienced pizza maker who lives and breathes pizza. You should already have some kitchen management experience, ideally two years in a professional pizza kitchen. You’ll be passionate about teaching others and want to lead our team to pizza perfection, smashing every service whilst organising and managing the dough and prep schedule. You should have a good amount of dough experience and understand the elements involved in monitoring and adapting to seasonal changes with dough making. You’ll thrive under pressure and have an attention to detail. You’ll have the highest standards when it comes to food hygiene and uphold our 5 star hygiene rating.

We take enormous pride in our dough, sauces and ingredients and we make
and prep mostly everything in house. We have a creative and innovative menu with a strong vegan offering. This means we’re looking for people passionate about pizza making, who are meticulous about quality control and want to make the best pizza in London!

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Hands-on, reliable and hardworking
  • Experienced in dough making and with a passion for pizza.
  • Able to show initiative, be flexible and work independently as well as part of The Pembury Tavern’s team
  • Enthusiastic and personable, with an interest in craft beer and hospitality
  • Excellent numerical and communication skills
  • Right to live and work in the UK
  • Ability to speak, read and write English language essential

    This role is for 45 hours a week, with evening and weekend work as standard, and is based at our pub, The Pembury Tavern, 90 Amhurst Road, London E8 1JH.
