The Five Points Green Hop 2025!

The Five Points Green Hop 2025!

As the vibrant autumnal hues sweep across East London, a unique brewing tradition comes to life; green hop beers. These seasonal brews, crafted using hops fresh from the bine within a few hours of harvest, celebrate not just the agricultural bounty but also the cultural connection to East London's brewing history.

Green hop beers trace their roots to the hop-growing counties of England, where brewers eagerly awaited the annual harvest to seize the opportunity to brew with undried, fresh hops. This method imparts an aromatic, grassy freshness and a vibrant, resinous character that dried hops simply can't replicate.

In East London, this tradition found itself amidst a burgeoning beer movement, with breweries embracing local ingredients and heritage, from families migrating to Kent and surrounding counties to holiday away from the city and pick the hops with their children.

Nestled in the heart of Hackney, Five Points Brewing Co has championed green hop beers as part of their seasonal offerings. Our journey with green hop brews is steeped in both innovation and respect for tradition. Over the years, Five Points has meticulously sourced hops from renowned British hop farm, Hukins Hops, ensuring the freshest cones make it from field to kettle in record time.

This year's green hop beer from Five Points is a testament to their brew team's passion and precision.

The team embarked on an early morning hop-picking adventure in Kent, selecting the finest, greenest hops. Within hours, sacks of Bullion hops were back in Hackney, ready to infuse into the brew with a fresh and overwhelming seasonal scent.

Green hop beers at Five Points are more than just a seasonal product; they're a cultural narrative. They reflect a community's connection to the land, the dedication of local farmers, and the collaborative spirit of East London's brewing history. Each pint tells a story of the journey from hop bine to glass, capturing the fleeting freshness of the harvest season.

As you sip this year's release, you're not just enjoying a beer, you're partaking in a tradition that bridges history, agriculture, and East London's vibrant craft beer scene.

Cheers to green hops, local brewers, and the enduring spirit of community!

The Five Points Green Hop can be enjoyed in many venues this October, including The Pembury Tavern, during their Green Hop Fest from 16 Oct.
